The Weather Diaries

Over two years in time, the artist duo Cooper and Gorfer travelled throughout Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands to explore the roots of West Nordic fashion.

The resulting body of work, a prolific collaboration between some of the most gifted designers and artists of the West Nordic Islands and Cooper & Gorfer, premiered as The Weather Diaries exhibition at the Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt, 2014.

This 20 minute film offers a glimpse into the making of The Weather Diaries. Filmed on location in Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, it brings you closer to these remote places and the voices of the people of whom it is about. The aspiration with producing this short film was to document both the reality and the visual magic of these three island nations. But even more importantly, it wishes to share some of the insightful and memorable thoughts of these creative forerunners from the North. Their personal reflections on isolation and the force of nature, consumerism, the roots of creativity and human behavior, all poetically setting the tone for the predicaments that resonates within the creative psyche of today.
