Padre Las Casas

Miriam Calzada's excursions continue; documenting the Dominican Republic's waters…

Miriam arrives at the municipality of Padre de las Casas – far from being a touristic destination given its distant geographic location: an inter-mountainous valley in the Dominican Republic’s central mountain range or “Cordillera Central”. Its aquiferous treasures are impressive – the vital Yaque del Sur and Las Cuevas river.

From Padre de las Casas, one can access the Caribbean’s highest mountain peak, Pico Duarte.
